THE RAIN HAS RETURNED
Our governor Gavin Newsome recently declared that we are in a draught situation. What with the rain we are now getting, I think that may have been premature. The past 3-4 years have been very dry, with the rain we count on on during the winter months has not occurred. The past 24 hours have been very wet, which is welcome, but due to the fact that the rain is coming too quickly, flood conditions are happening all around the Bay Area. Our neighborhood has not experienced any flooding, which is fine with me. And we really do need the rain. Just bring in gradually, thank you very much. I've been watching the local news and too many areas are in bad shape. Let up with the rain, but keep it coming during the entire winter season please.
On another subject altogether, I have a program on my computer that allows me to transfer cassette tapes (which I used to use to record music) into MP3 files, which I then transfer onto CDs (remember those?) and I have all my old music files available to play whenever I want. Once upon a time, I had two turntables and a mixing board, so I could make mix tapes effortlessly. Whenever I made these tapes, I always imagined myself as a DJ, making sure that there were no gaps in the music being played, just like listening to an FM station, song after song. I actually became very proficient at making these tapes, and I am enjoying transferring these old tapes into music I can play on CD, whether in the car (which I don't currently own) or using my computer for playback. Martin has been somewhat impressed with my DJ skills (and I have to admit, I was getting to the point where I was pretty good).
I recently made my pumpkin/cranberry bread, adding ingredients not in the recipe because Martin wanted me to add them. I was against the idea, but to avoid arguments, I relented. The bread was a total disaster! He hated it (I was pleasantly glad that it had turned out that way, proving my point--don't fuck with my recipe!). I ended up tossing that bread because I followed the recipe. He apologized all over the place for forcing me to go with his wishes. I've had a couple slices already, and it turned out exactly like it's supposed to, so can't wait to have him taste it when he gets home.
I was pleased that the Atlanta Braves beat the horrid LA Dodgers in the National League Championship Series. Go Braves!
That's about it for today. Staying dry by not going out in this rain. Stay safe.
