BALLROOM DANCING AND MARCH MADNESS

My husband Martin loves his Photoshop program and created this photo of us doing the Argentine Tango. I love the looks of the people in the background. His is so creative, I had to publish this photo.

I love watching March Madness NCAA men's basketball, though because Martin does not have a single sport's gene in his body, I feel fortunate whenever I actually get to watch a game. I've been able to see quite a few games, and I feel honored that he's "allowed" me to see as much as I have been able to watch. I'm really pulling for Gonzaga because they are from the West Coast Conference, the same conference as University of San Francisco and I feel they are a "local" team...plus they are undefeated, which almost never happens in men's NCAA basketball. I really hope they go all the way. They are currently into the Final Four and will be playing UCLA next, who has gone from the "first four play-in game" into the Final Four. They are on a streak, but I feel Gonzaga has the wherewithal to withstand them and advance to the championship game this coming Monday night. I have also been cheering for the Stanford women's team in the women's tournament, in honor of my former co-worker Claire; she's been a huge fan of them for years and we used to talk about both the men's and women's tournament when we worked together. They are the overall #1 seed in the women's tournament, so I hope they continue their quest of another championship. They have not won the title since 1992, so they are overdue. Keeping my fingers crossed for both teams -- Gonzaga and Stanford.

I have also been working diligently lately on getting all the paperwork together for us to file the forms to get him his green card. The last thing I need to do is add him to my bank account and print a statement showing both our names; it's the only joint account that I can think of that would include both of us. My landlord doesn't care about adding him, as he only is concerned with me, as the person who writes the check every month. PG&E wants a social security number, but of course he doesn't have one of those. All I need to add him to the bank account is his driver's license and his passport. We are searching all over the place for his passport; I know it's somewhere but seems to be misplaced at the moment.

 It's been almost six weeks since I published an article. How time flies! I had my 70th birthday on May 1. Went to a great lunch at my favorite restaurant (La Mediterranee) with Martin and David. They weren't doing inside dining yet, but we had a nice table on the sidewalk area they've set up for dining and the heater next to the table kept us toasty, as it was in the 50s and a bit windy which made it seem colder than it was. I've enclosed a photo of the three of us. The next exiting thing we did was go out to the movies again! In a real movie theater (IMAX no less). Saw "A Quiet Place, Part II" which was very exciting and we all enjoyed it. It was David's first "horror" movie and even he said afterwards that he liked it.  THE RAIN HAS RETURNED Our governor Gavin Newsome recently declared that we are in a draught situation. What with the rain we are now getting, I think that may have been premature. The past 3-4 years have been very dry, with the rain we count on on during the winter months has not occurred. The past 24 hours have been very wet, which is welcome, but due to the fact that the rain is coming too quickly, flood conditions are happening all around the Bay Area. Our neighborhood has not experienced any flooding, which is fine with me. And we really do need the rain. Just bring in gradually, thank you very much. I've been watching the local news and too many areas are in bad shape. Let up with the rain, but keep it coming during the entire winter season please. On another subject altogether, I have a program on my computer that allows me to transfer cassette tapes (which I used to use to record music) into MP3 files, which I then transfer onto CDs (remember those?) and I have all my old m...

 MAYNARD MUNN and MILLARD SMITH Disclaimer: some of the following is quite racy in case you don't want to read the entire first paragraph. Maynard Munn was my uncle. I accidently found out recently that he passed away in June 2021. The photo above was a perfect photo for his obituary, as that is exactly how I remember him. He and Millard were together for as long as I knew him, and I recently turned 70, so I believe they were together for over 65 years at the minimum. In his obituary, they described Millard as his "longtime friend and business associate" -- I guess they still couldn't reconcile that they were in actuality, gay. In June of 1967, Uncle Main came up to Michigan to attend my older brother's graduation from high school. Mom pulled me aside and said I had a decision to make. He wanted to take me back to Jacksonville when he returned but if I chose that option, I would have to bypass taking driver's education classes that summer. Wasn't much of a...
