ODDS AND ENDS
It's a lovely day in San Francisco, low 60s with sun all over the place. Took the bus down to Best Buy to get my new copy of Turbo Tax for 2020. Whether we like it or not, still have to file those taxes. I've been thinking about the upcoming trial of the past president, who the House impeached last month after inviting his supporters (how can anyone really support that asshole?) to march down to the Capitol and have a lovely riot. Having the Senate convict him looks rather unlikely but I keep hoping that maybe for once, the Republicans will do the right thing. Fat chance, but I am the eternal optimist. And then there's Representative Marjorie Taylor-Greene of Georgia...after her meeting with the Minority leader of the House last night, and with all the other House Republicans, they did nothing. Even with a secret vote, they still would not strip her of her committee settings. We truly are turning into a one party country as the party of insurrectionists have no intention of trying to work "across the aisle" and get the work done that the people of this country need and deserve.
I recently wrote about Derek DelGaudio's movie "In & Of Itself" which still remains in my mind. I've watched it three times now. Finally convinced Martin to watch it with me; he was very ambivalent for about the first 25 minutes, but by the time the movie ended, he told me that he really enjoyed it a lot, even moving him to tears. I shed a few every time I watch it, so I was actually glad it had that effect on him. I still encourage everyone that I speak with to find this movie and watch it.
While Dennis was alive, he would always go outside on Groundhog's Day (his birthday) and see his shadow, then he would declare "spring has arrived in San Francisco." I have continued that tradition and there's only been one time when the sun did not cooperate; I didn't have that problem the other day as it was very sunny and mild. I always got a kick out of him doing that and I think he'd be proud of the fact that I still do it on his behalf.
Martin took the above photo yesterday. I think I still look pretty good for 69 years of age. That big "70" is coming later this year. I never would have predicted when I was younger that I'd make it that far, but I'm happy to still be around.
I've been toying around with the idea of creating a home-made pizza, with the dough coming from the grocery store. I used to make one with potatoes, feta, mozzarella, Romano cheeses, green onions and a couple other items I don't remember. He is a traditionalist when it comes to pizza, so don't know if I can convince him to let me create that style. He'd prefer pizza sauce, pesto, pepperoni, mozzarella and basil. We'll see how my powers of persuasion can convince him to at least give it a try.
That's about it for now. Take care, stay safe, wear a mask and be healthy. Until next time...
