GOODBYE AND GOOD RIDDANCE TO 2020

To say this has been a turbulent year does disservice to turbulent. A lot of the unsettled vitriol is directly due to the current presidential administration. January 20th cannot get here soon enough. And yet he is still claiming he won the election and expects Congress to somehow overturn the certified votes of millions of voters. He's of course only claiming fraud in the states he lost; I contend that if there was fraud in states he lost, how much fraud occurred in the states he won? How did this orange buffoon get 11 million more votes that he got in 2016? He does have another badge of honor though--he's the only president who has lost the popular vote twice. At least Biden won by more than seven million votes and received the same amount of electoral votes that this loser received in 2016, when he claims he won in a landslide. Guess he also lost in a landslide then, right? Any president would have had a hard time getting COVID-19 under control, but he took it to a new level--incompetence personified. And if the Democrats were really good at fraud and illegal voting as he claims, sorry shithead, but Hillary would be president right now, not your sorry ass. Enough about him. And I love the fact that even though I have never mentioned his name, anyone reading this knows who I am talking about.

In addition to losing my older brother (see my "Big Brother" post earlier), I also lost a wonderful lady and Dennis's sister, Sandie. (Sandie on the left in the photo; sister Eileen on the right). She slipped and fell in April and hit her head, never recovering from the coma that resulted. A truly great loss as she did everything in the world to make sure Dennis and I enjoyed our visits with them to the fullest. We always stayed at Ray and Sandie's house, having the entire upstairs to ourselves, including our own bathroom. She introduced me to Elizabeth George, an English crime novelist who has become one of my very favorite authors. During one visit, I saw online that she had a new book coming out right that week, and when I mentioned it to Sandie, she said: "bookstore time." We both bought copies of the book; she finished her copy before I left to return home, and I was saving my copy to read on the plane.

May brought more heartache, as Martin's sister Mary passed away very unexpectedly. He is still heartbroken though fond memories help him get through any grief that still crops up now and again.

On a more positive note, he had been estranged from his brother Armando and they have now reconciled their differences and are in almost constant touch either by phone or text.

I still miss playing pool, not having had my cue stick out of its case since March. The last time I did have it out, I did prevail at my weekly Saturday 9-ball tournament, so at least there is a happy memory that goes with not being able to see all the guys.

The election was a huge boost to our spirits. Biden and Harris will make a great pair in the White House and are definitely looking forward to their inauguration.

That's enough bitching for now. Here's to a very Happy New Year to all. Stay safe and healthy.
